"I'm listening to the latest episode of the Australian podcast On The Bench (link - do yourself a favour* and skip to 30min from the end) and they have an interview with Richard Alexander. Some bullet points regarding the Spitfire:

- not at test shots stage yet otherwise would be more concrete with release schedule

- when asked about oilcanning etc Richard said surface detail "makes" the real aeroplane

- no indication of PE as the kit should be able to be built OOB, maybe some ancillary accessories later but too early to tell

- an engine adds a huge amount of complexity, there is a market for that but it cuts out people who want to just do one they saw

- number of decal options has been decided on but not ready to say, except Kiwi as on box art

- multiple boxings? "Want to milk it for all it's worth"!

- at the moment no wheels-up option but as part of the design process modelled compressed and uncompressed oleos and retraction to see how it fits

*I'm not a regular listener, this is the second one I've downloaded - the first was also for a Richard Alexander interview. Interesting how the hosts have a light-hearted whinge, and are always surprised, about Richard not telling them about what's next....almost as though they were unware of Wingnut Wings (and now Kotare) policy!"

"The legendary Supermarine Spitfire Mk.I is undoubtedly one of the most famous aircraft of all time. This was in no small part due to its performance during the Battle of Britain from July 1940 to October 1940 where, despite being less numerous than the similarly powered and armed Hawker Hurricane Mk.I, it proved to be the aircraft that mostly captured the imagination of the public. Designed from 1934 under the guidance of Supermarine chief designer RJ Mitchell and Alfred “Alf” Faddy, the prototype Spitfire first flew on 5 March 1936 and production aircraft began entering service with the RAF in May 1938. The Spitfire Mk.Ia was powered by a 1030hp Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and armed with 8 Browning .303” machine guns in the wings. Early production aircraft featured a 2-bladed fixed pitch propeller, a tall un-tapered aerial post and lacked any armour protection for the fuel tank and pilot. Numerous improvements were made throughout production, many of which were retrofitted to earlier aircraft and include a 3-blade dual-pitch De Havilland propeller, armour plating and a taller canopy hood with more headroom.

Later production Spitfire Mk.Ia (as featured in this model) saw the introduction of additional improvements including variable pitch "constant speed" propellers, a dual-position cockpit door catch, tapered aerial post, voltage regulator positioned behind the pilot’s headrest, engine driven hydraulic undercarriage retraction (replacing the cumbersome hand pump system), TR1133 radio without the need for an external aerial, reinforced radio access door, the deletion of the forward parachute flare tube and one of the fuel gauges on the instrument board. Numerous engine, airframe and armament improvements were made to the Spitfire before production ceased in 1948, by which time over 20000 Spitfires had been produced in a couple of dozen variants. Basically the most notable variants were the 1030hp Mk.Ia, 1470hp Mk.Vb, 1720hp Mk.IXc, 2035hp Mk.XIVe, the unarmed photo-reconnaissance Mk.XI and the navalised Seafire Mk.III."

Best-seller sait pas, ça dépendra du prix. Car sans PJ la note risque de ne pas être la même. Si ça reste dans la marge des Tam au 32, c'est sûr que ça va cartonner.

"K32001 Kotare 1/32 Spitfire Mk.Ia (Mid) is progressing well and remains on schedule for release later this year. The next big milestone we are looking forward to is the receipt of test shots in the not-too-distant future.

We are actively developing several other new releases which we are not quite ready to reveal just yet, but I think it would be disingenuous for us to deny that there would probably be at least another variation or two of the Spitfire included amongst them.

Hopefully things can get back to something resembling normal worldwide before too much longer so that we will be able to meet many of you in person at the various model shows etc that we plan on attending.

Many people have been asking for updated release date information and price etc. The release of K32001 Kotare 1/32 Spitfire Mk.Ia (Mid) remains on schedule for later in 2022. Unfortunately, because of worldwide supply chain problems and numerous of the world events, it would be folly for us to try and be more specific about a release date and/or price (even ballpark) at this time. Sorry."

La recette wingnutwings appliquée à la wwii mais sur des avions hyperconnus cette fois-ci. Sans aucun doute plus efficace commercialement parlant.
Hâtes de voir leur prochain projet en espérant un peu d'originalité.

Pourquoi devrait-on bouder l'arriver du premier vrai bon Mk I au 32.

Un zingo hyperconnu, mais au 32, que des offres hyperfoireuses jusque là....pour un zingo emblématique comme celui-là, il était plus que temps de lui rendre enfin justice.
