)

"You will by now be aware that Spitfire MJ627, operated by FlyaSpitfire.com, made a precautionary off airfield landing on Saturday evening. The pilot on detecting a problem made the difficult, but absolutely correct, decision to land the aircraft immediatly. As you can see that landing was carried out to perfection and both pilot and passenger were uninjured. The aircraft itself was only lightly damaged and was back on her undercarriage before departing by road. She will be flying again very soon!
Thank you to the pilot for looking after his passenger and the aircraft so well. Thank you to all the Flyaspitfire staff for recovering her so quickly. Thanks also to the other Spitfire operators, farmer and others who offered assistance.
Well done to those pages that resisted the urge to comment on the incident before the owner had time to respond themselves.
Despite what some of our appalling newspapers reported, this was a private formation flight, the Spitfire seen circling was the second aircraft not the one that landed in the field. The flight had nothing to do with VE Day, no one "crashed" or "plummeted" and no one was "horrified"!
All planned flights are continuing as normal and I can't wait to see MJ627 back flying again soon."
